В молдавской народной традиции месяц апрель называли «Prier». Это народное название апреля происходит от глагола «a prii», что в переводе означает «быть благоприятным», то есть этот месяц благоприятствует посеву сельскохозяйственных культур и домашним работам.
В давние времена в деревнях в этом месяце продолжалась вспашка и посевы, начатые в марте. В это же время поля «закрывались», и это означало, что овцам и крупному рогатому скоту больше не разрешалось свободно пастись. Поэтому начиналось формирование стад и стрижка овец. Пастухи должны были отремонтировать кошары и загоны для животных, которые будут им поручены.
Об апреле говорят, что это капризный месяц, когда погода бывает или морозной, или теплой. В то же время по знакам апреля предсказывали предстоящую погоду, поэтому в этом месяце рождаются некоторые верования, а именно:
